Essential National Services & Information

Whaikaha - Ministry of Disabled People
Whaikaha is the Government's official agency for disability issues. This is your starting point for understanding your rights, the Enabling Good Lives (EGL) principles, and applying for funding and support like the Disability Allowance.

IHC New Zealand
IHC is one of NZ's leading advocates for people with intellectual disabilities. They offer family support, advocacy services, and a fantastic library with books about disability (free for members).

CCS Disability Action
With a long history and a national network, CCS provides a wide range of community-based services, resources, and programmes for disabled people and their families across Aotearoa.

Parents of Vision Impaired (PVI) NZ Inc.
A fantastic nationwide support network run by and for families of blind and low vision children. They offer connections, shared experiences, and advocacy.


Condition-Specific Support & Information

Altogether Autism
This organisation provides expert, evidence-based information about autism spectrum disorder tailored specifically for the Aotearoa context. A vital resource for parents seeking guidance and understanding.

Deaf Aotearoa
This national organisation represents the Deaf community in Aotearoa. They provide information, support services, and resources for families using New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL).
