Helping Children Understand Difference Positively

Children are naturally curious and open to learning. When disability and inclusion are part of everyday stories, conversations, play and learning, children have more opportunities to understand difference in positive ways.

Positive representation can also help disabled children see themselves reflected in the resources they use while helping other children become more familiar with disability as a normal part of life.

The aim is not simply to teach children facts about disability. It is to help create a culture where participation, accessibility, respect and belonging become part of everyday thinking.

We encourage parents, caregivers, educators and support workers to explore resources alongside children and support positive conversations about inclusion, communication, accessibility and belonging.
